We love to bring these when on the road and when we hike – which we do often! These crunchy, chocolately treats keep us going longer and are so, so yummy. They come together in one bowl in under 15 minutes and no baking required. They are vegetarian, but are easily vegan and gluten free adaptable. Also, can easily omit the peanuts if your kids enjoy a smoother finish!

Makes about twelve 1/2in balls
- 1 cup pitted dates
- 1/2 cup raw peanuts
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp mini chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/2 cup quick oats (or sub gluten-free)
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 2 tbsp honey (or agave if vegan)
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
Place dates and 1/2 cup raw peanuts in a food processor and pulse until finely chopped. Pour into a large bowl and combine with remaining ingredients. (Note – if mixture is too dry, add 1/2 tbsp more peanut butter, if too wet, add 1 tbsp oats.) Roll into twelve 1/2in balls with your hands and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for best results.
